England’s Coast to Coast Walk, May 2011

Mary Ose and John Adams started their adventure walking across England at about 6pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.  We began by walking from town to the north end of the sea wall at St. Bees in Cumbria, where we dipped our toes into the Irish Sea.  St. Bees is near the western edge of England’s Lake District, a few hours north of Manchester.  At 5pm on Wednesday, May 18th, we reached our destination, Robin Hood’s Bay, near the eastern edge of England’s North York Moors National Park.  Here we dipped our toes into the North Sea and were greeted at the nearby establishment, Wainwright’s Pub, by a number of friends made along the way.

It was such a pleasure meeting you recently at REI. Unfortunately, I didn’t find a pack I like, but will keep looking. Best of luck on your upcoming walk; it sounds very exciting. I hope our paths cross again sometime

Its Friday night, so I figure you are soon leaving Grasmere. Hope your weather is as good as at home. Everyone enjoyed green pea pods with their dinner at bridge tonight, So where’s Mary, they all asked. Our house is all painted and looks great. We will miss you at Margie’s dinner for moms Sunday night. Hi to John.

Hi Mary! I thought of you this morning as I watererd the plants at the community garden. The tomato plants have doubled in size. For some reason, I thought you were going to walk in the opposite direction. I hope the walk is going well. Josh

You’re near the end of the trail! Awesome…you must be so excited to get to the North Sea. I’m thinking back on the final days of crossing California….looking for the Nevada line at Lake Tahoe. Both are quite an accomplishment! Your mom shared the postcard with the map on it….(very cool!)…at bridge on Thursday. Sounds like all is well and I’m sure there are back stories never to be written 🙂 See you Thursday for bridge 🙂

I haven’t forgotten you and your journey. Now, I am wondering if you have completed it, yet. I want lots and lots of stories. Hope you are well and happy!
