Well, this decision-making about packing has been pretty interesting – for each of us, in differing ways.  Mary’s goal was to have the lightest possible pack.  Hers weighs in at 17.75 pounds including the pack itself, her sleeping bag, the borrowed Xoom (=several pounds with charger), containers for food and water although not the food and water themselves, and a few clothes, toothbrush, not much more.

John the inventor decided to modify his pack.  He mounted a couple of lightweight wheels to the bottom of the aluminum frame, and created a frametop extender (looks like an upside down U) to enable him to pull it along rather than having it on his back for the duration.  John’s pack weighs in at ?? pounds.

Think minimalist…
